Last year I started to look more closely to the big and small changes we could make at home to make our daily impact on the environment smaller. As well as swapping some cleaning things, trying to use less one-use plastic etc I saw others had started to use this brand of toilet roll.
Who gives a crap is certainly a catchy name, and I know some have an issue with the wrappers being advertised in their bathroom. But the ethos behind the company is great and worth the stumbling block of the name.
The company donates 50% of their profits to help build toilets for those in need and all of their products are made without using trees.
BUT IS IT ANY GOOD?
I purchased our first 24 box of the 3 ply recyled toilet paper last year and when that was all used up, ordered a large 48 roll box of the same type again.
Before buying this we were using overpriced, pure white quilted stuff from the supermarket. So when this arrived, and it wasn’t bright white but a little beige, not quilted, it is soft enough but not like the poshest andrex. It is 3 ply and for its actual purpose of wiping bums is totally effective.
The rolls are double length so last for ages – Our last order arrived at the end of December 2018 and In the middle of May 2019 there are still 7 rolls left (we are a 3 person household)
I did before buying our first box try and do the maths on is it cheaper to buy this way, and a lot depends on what you were buying before. If you were buying one up from the cheapest Supermarket toilet rolls it was about the same. If you are buying the posher, quilted stuff then who gives a crap is cheaper.
One thing it isn’t good at, wiping up anything, by this I mean I used to spray the toilet to clean it and then wipe with toilet roll. This can’t do that as it ends up in a million pieces. But I can live with that. As that isn’t its purpose.
I also love the fact it is another thing to not think of buying weekly / monthly at the supermarket.
