Review – La Roche-Posay Effaclar K

12 January , 2014

The La Roche-Posay Effaclar K is a daily renewal moisturiser for irregula skin texture.  Which is a much kinder way of saying it is is for those of us blessed with oily skin that is prone to breakouts.  It works to help pores look clearer and refine the skin’s texture.

It is a really lovely feeling moisturiser that instantly makes your skin feel smooth, and is a perfect base for make up.  It is nice and light, so works well for my oily skin, but doesn’t have that weird effect of being too mattifying where you put it on and you feel like it is a mask.

I have been using this for a couple of months now and it has helped, for me my main skin issues are linked to eating dairy, especially cheese.  So over the December period I went from no dairy/cheese to eating Brie, pizza, chocolate, basically if it had sugar in it, I ate it.  and the results of this were written all over my face.

There is no skin treatment in  the world (it has taken me 30 odd years to work this out) that can stop me breaking out after eating cheese & dairy. BUT what this has done is improved the texture of my skin all over and also the look of pores, especially on my nose.

A little bit goes a long way, so this 30ml tube is still going strong 2 months in.

I love the fact I have wised up to the fact that even though I have oily skin, I need to treat it kindly.  No more harsh scrubs and teenage skin treatments. But for a moisturiser I need a good brand that respects the fact I have skin issues, but also provides my whole face with a good moisturiser without upsetting the more delicate bits.

Sounds really good. I ate dairy and sugar over Christmas as well and my face was a disaster. So depressing but at least, like you, I finally know what I need to do to keep my face somewhat under control. I’ll keep this moisturiser in mind when my current one runs out, I’m not attached to anything I have right now so I’m always happy to try new stuff.
